A reception was held to felicitate and honour Ahmedabad University's Shrenik Lalbhai Chair Professor, Howard Spodek, as he was recently conferred a Lifetime Achievement Award by the World History Association (WHA) at Ghent University, Belgium. The award is the highest honour given by the World History Association and individuals who receive it are recognized for having distinguished themselves as world history researchers and teachers. As Chair Professor, Professor Spodek has delivered a series of lectures on World History at Ahmedabad University and credited with generating an interest in history amongst students and staff alike.
At the felicitation held at VentureStudio Cafe, Professor Spodek was welcomed by Professor Pankaj Chandra, Chairman, Board of Management. Professor Spodek briefly spoke about his passion for world history, his published books and his love for Ahmedabad City. Ms. Mirai Chatterjee of SEWA was invited as a guest to the gathering and spoke about her interaction with Professor Spodek since his long association with SEWA. Professor Spodek then responded to questions and comments from the audience. Most faculty have had the pleasure and honor of attending Professor Spodek's classes or discussing history with him and shared their experiences of the same. Professor Chandra presented Professor Spodek with a memento and the book "Thinking, fast and slow". The evening ended with high tea in the lovely environs of VentureStudio.
