Ahmedabad University Students Head out to Five Different Countries on Semester Abroad Programmes
The Monsoon 2024 semester will be a very exciting period for Ahmedabad University students. Several of our students are set to travel for Semester Abroad Programmes and Summer School around the globe, enhancing the internationalisation of the host and home universities. The Office of International Affairs at Ahmedabad University administers the Semester Abroad programmes each semester. The Office publishes an “expression of interest” process whereby students apply, and subsequently, the School and its leadership review and select students for the programme. The Office subsequently nominates the students, liaises with the global partners, and supports selected students in their application and visa processes.
As many as thirteen students of the School of Arts and Sciences and the Amrut Mody School of Management at Ahmedabad University are set to visit our University partners abroad in Hong Kong, Russia, the United States, Spain, and France. Four students would visit the Rennes School of Business in France for their Monsoon Semester, specialising in Business and Management. This would be the tenth cohort of students visiting our long-time partner, Rennes, a prestigious triple-accredited business school. Previous students have benefited immensely from the academic and cultural diversity at Rennes.
Another cohort of five students will, for the first time, visit our partner, the National Research University–Higher School of Economics (HSE), St. Petersburg, Russia, for an India Week. They will get an opportunity to experience the best of Russian higher education through an academic immersion fully sponsored by HSE University.
For the first time ever, three talented students of our undergraduate programmes in Arts and Business Administration will be embarking on the Visiting International Student Programme (VISP) at the University of Wisconsin at Madison in the United States. These students will pursue their programmes for the entire Monsoon/Fall 2024 semester specialising in Psychology and Finance and Accounting.
Another first for us is that one of our PhD students from the Biological and Sciences division will be pursuing her research semester abroad at Lingnan University in the field of evolutionary biology, exploring the adaptations and evolutionary patterns in aquatic animals.
In yet another first, a STEM student currently pursuing her Chemical Engineering at the School of Engineering and Applied Science will be heading to the University of Valladolid, Spain, in Monsoon 2024.
We congratulate this cohort of students for all these intellectually exciting opportunities at leading global universities, and look forward to greater internationalisation of our vibrant community on Campus!
