Ahmedabad University and JCB Literature Foundation Collaborate to Strengthen Literary Translation
Leveraging on the understanding that learning and knowledge are free from geographical barriers Ahmedabad University has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Delhi-based JCB Literature Foundation (JCBLF) to groom and mentor interested students in the fast-growing literary translation segment.
The MoU was signed by Mr B M Shah, Registrar, Ahmedabad University and Ms Meghna Verma, Head of Operations, JCBLF on 15 November 2021.
Important Features of the MoU
A Diploma Course in Literary Translation will be offered by the Centre for Learning Futures at Ahmedabad University from 2022-23. Tejaswini Niranjana, Professor of Humanities and Languages, School of Arts and Sciences, Ahmedabad University, will be responsible for designing and implementing the course.
- This course will focus on enhancing the skills of existing translators to better prepare them for publishing, advertising and editorial industries through workshops, mentored bilingual engagements, and courses covering the history and theory of translation; and through facilitating opportunities for interaction with publishers. This new initiative has generous support from JCBLF through 10 full scholarships for those taking the course.
- JCBLF will support fieldwork activities and enhance the library resources at Ahmedabad University.

The JCB Literature Foundation is a Delhi-based not-for-profit company registered under Section 8 of the Indian Companies Act, whose purpose is to create greater visibility for contemporary Indian writing. It has a particular focus on translation, with the idea of introducing readers to Indian literature written in languages other than their own.
