The Office of the Dean of Students offers services and support to students and also organises unified student activities across all Programmes and Schools of the University. The Wellness vertical at the ODS provides access to free physical and mental health consultations and supports the Circle of Care initiative that integrates the incoming students into the system.

Even though the ODS came into existence in the academic year 2016-17, one segment of it – Student Support, Engagement and Tutelage (SSETU) – has been providing certain services since June 2013.

Life in Ahmedabad City

As the economic capital of the state of Gujarat and one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities, Ahmedabad provides a unique context for learning. At Ahmedabad University we make the most of this rich backdrop in our educational endeavours. We ensure that you will  learn to connect theories learned in the classroom to real-life experiences, whether it is through an internship with an organisation, a service project with a local NGO, industry visits to some of the city’s biggest companies or engage with industry leaders and entrepreneurs on the campus.

Given that Ahmedabad is one of the safest cities in India, with some of the best infrastructures in the country, it is an ideal location for field based learning. Our students are always ready to engage with the city and the experience that it offers both socially and intellectually. Our location in the city’s centre and in its educational district provides easy access to theatres, restaurants offering global and regional cuisines, the street food culture of Law Garden and Manek Chowk, as well as several cultural spaces like the LD Museum of Indology, Calico Museum, Darpana Academy of Performing Arts, the Kanoria Centre for the Arts, Ahmedabad ni Gufa, and their vibrant cafés and community spaces.

Ahmedabad city has been recognized as a UNESCO Heritage Site and its Sabarmati Ashram of Mahatma Gandhi, Adalaj Vav (the stepwell), Siddhi Sayyed’s mosque, Sarkhej Roza, Corbusier’s Ahmedabad Textile Manufacturing Association building are amongst some of the most  historical structures of the nation. Visits to these places will surely inspire you during your stay in Ahmedabad.Gujarat and its neighbouring State, Rajasthan, also  have great tourist sites that are within few hours of travel from Ahmedabad.

Ahmedabad also has an entrenched entrepreneurial culture. If you want to start an enterprise, this is a place of incubators and angel investors. VentureStudio at Ahmedabad University runs incubation programmes for our students. Visit VentureStudio if you have an idea that solves some challenge that a society or a company or an individual faces - they will advise you on how to build a company!
