General Guidelines

We offer 25 Majors at Ahmedabad. 
 
Our Majors span the Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, Sciences, Management, Commerce and Engineering.

Each degree Programme, at Ahmedabad, provides students the opportunity to craft their own learning across disciplines and create their own academic pathway. Students often explore more than one area that interests them. 

Students have the opportunity to make informed decisions about their area of specialisation.

  • Students can apply with the same form for more than one Programme or Major.
  • Programme preferences can be from the same School or different Schools, subject to meeting School and Programme level eligibility requirements. 
  • A student can choose a Major at the time of applying, or indicate ‘yet to decide’ and confirm a Major by their second year at the University. 
  • Only in the case of the BTech Programme it is necessary to confirm the Major at the time of applying.
  • All students at Ahmedabad have the opportunity to change their Major, based on their interest and on advice from their faculty advisors, up to the second year at the University. The student has to meet all eligibility criteria or take required pre-requisite courses (where needed) in case they wish to change their Major.
  • Currently students are not allowed to seek a change of Major or degree to the School of Engineering and Applied Science.

Students take courses or credits in diverse disciplines.

  • Students complete their degree on achieving the required number of credits for a degree Programme.
  • Credits earned in each course counts towards the credits required for the degree. 
  • Should you choose to, you can also pursue a Minor in discipline other than your selected Major. A Minor is not compulsory and is an optional choice for students to explore areas of interest and build alternative areas of expertise.

Admission at Ahmedabad University is holistic and includes a Personal Interaction with faculty. Students are also required to write an authentic Personal Statement as a part of their application. The Personal Interaction and Personal Statement are designed to help us know you better and assess your interests and fit at Ahmedabad University.

Application Form

  • We only accept online applications.
  • To apply, you will be required to create an account on our Admission Portal, and complete the online Application Form. 
  • You need to fill only one form to apply for any Programme or Major (except for the BTech Programme)
  • Students can indicate up to three Majors of interest, subject to Programme eligibility criteria.

Eligibility

The General Eligibility requirement for admission to Bachelors’ and Integrated Masters’ Programmes is the Class 12 examination, or its equivalent.

Students appearing for Class 12 examinations conducted by various Boards (as specified below) are eligible to apply to Ahmedabad University.  

  • All boards approved by the Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE). View list
  • Secondary school leaving examinations recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) including the Cambridge IGCSE, the American High School Diploma, the International Baccalaureate (The Diploma Programme and The Career-related Programme), and the 12 year General Secondary School Certificate Examination conducted in the Gulf countries.   • Eligibility criteria do not entitle a candidate for admission. They only indicate the minimum requirement to be considered for admission to Ahmedabad University.
  • Candidates applying for BTech (when announced) through the online application form at Ahmedabad University website must submit their score on JEE (Main) or any state level Engineering Entrance Exam held in 2024.
