Our Selection Process

Admissions to BTech programmes are offered under two categories:

  • Admissions through Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC):

    50% of seats are allocated through the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC), a committee set up by the Government of Gujarat.

  • Admissions through All India Seats (JEE Main Merit List)

    50% of seats are filled directly through an online application on the Ahmedabad University Admissions portal, based on Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) (Main).

The selection to the BTech Programme through Ahmedabad University’s All India Seats is based on the All India Rank (AIR) obtained in the JEE (Main) examination. Candidates will be offered admission on the basis of their JEE (Main) AIR as determined by the final NTA Score.

  • Students will be admitted based on JEE (Main) AIR and vacant seats only.
  • Based on the AIR, a Merit List for in-person Group Counselling will be announced. Admission to the Programme will be confirmed on the date of Counselling and is subject to payment of fees and verification of documents.
  • Information about the schedule for Group Counselling is sent by email and provided in the Student LogIn on the Admissions Portal. If the student is not present for counselling, his/her seat will be passed to the next candidate in order of rank.
  • A student can declare the specified Major/Stream till counselling is completed.

Application Form

We accept applications online only. The application fee is Rs. 350/- and is not refundable.

  • The applicable deadline for submission of the form and compliance with actions including payment of fees will be midnight of the stipulated date. The University reserves the right to change timelines with a notice period of 12 hours.
  • Academic scores are self-reported in the online application and will be verified at the time of the Interaction and/or during the completion of admissions formalities.
  • Students of Class XII, who are yet to appear for final examinations or are awaiting results, can apply as soon as BTech Admissions are announced.
  • All students are required to submit Class XII scores, as soon as released by their Board, using the same login.
  • Students who receive admission through ACPC are to report directly to the Programme Office at School of Engineering and Applied Science.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria do not entitle a candidate to admission. They only indicate the minimum requirement to be considered for a seat at Ahmedabad University.

  1. General Eligibility Criteria

    The General Eligibility requirement for admission to the Bachelor of Technology Programmes is the Class XII examination, or its equivalent. Students appearing in Class XII examinations conducted by various Boards as considered by Ahmedabad University are eligible to apply.

    The following Boards of Examination will be recognised by Ahmedabad University:

    • All boards approved by the Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE). View list
    • Secondary school leaving examinations recognised by the AIU including the Cambridge IGCSE, the American High School Diploma, the International Baccalaureate (Diploma Programme only), the 12 year General Secondary School Certificate Examination conducted in the Gulf countries. View list
    • Candidates are required to declare their Board in their application form and provide marksheets from their respective Boards.

    The Tuition Fee for the BTech Programme is as decided by the Fee Regulatory Committee of the Government of Gujarat. To view the Tuition Fees for Engineering programmes for the academic year beginning October 2020, click here.

Management and Commerce

Guidelines for Regular Admissions 2020

We will be opening classes for students entering University this year from August 2020. With the interest of students in mind, and to enable learning to continue without further delay, there will be a special provision to allow students to begin classes, even if their Class 12 results have not been received. Classes will be held online or at the University, depending on the evolving situation.

Accordingly, students can apply for Admissions in either of the following ways:

  • Case 1: Class 12 results likely to be delayed OR Class 12 examinations are not completed

    Students will apply on the basis of Class 10 and Class 11 scores, and can receive a Regular Offer that is conditional to submission of Class 12 results as specified in the offer. On announcement of Class 12 results, students can add their scores in the same application and receive confirmation of their Admission.

    Students accepting a Regular Offer will receive an Enrolment Number and can attend orientation and begin classes in August. Classes will be held online, until the situation returns to normalcy.

    Students will be required to pay the First Semester Tuition fee and Security Deposit, before the commencement of the semester by the stipulated date.

  • Case 2: Class 12 results likely to be on schedule

    Students who are likely to receive Class 12 scores shortly or have already received results can apply directly with Class 12 scores.

Our Admissions process is based on a holistic review of your application. We consider your Academics, Extracurricular Achievements, Personal Statement and call you for a Personal Interaction.

  • Academic Performance: We use several criteria that include the academic performance of applicants in Class X, XI and XII.

    The following Boards of Examination are recognised by Ahmedabad University:

    • Secondary school leaving examinations recognised by the AIU including the Cambridge IGCSE, the American High School Diploma, the International Baccalaureate (Diploma Programme only), the 12 year General Secondary School Certificate Examination conducted in the Gulf countries. View list
  • Extracurricular Achievements: We would like to hear about sports activities and competitive events, cultural pursuits such as music, art, theatre and dance, and co-curricular activities such as internships, involvement with community activities and significant project work. We consider Sports, Cultural Activities and Co-curricular Activities from Class IX onwards, and require you to upload certificates for each of these as one document, i.e. all Sports Certificates as one PDF, all Cultural Certificates as one PDF and all Co-curricular Certificates as one PDF.
  • Personal Statement: Aspirants are compulsorily required to write a Personal Statement for us to gain an insight into their experiences, reflections and aspirations. Candidates are advised to write their Personal Statement truthfully and honestly. Plagiarism will be checked and may result in the disqualification of the Personal Statement.

    The Personal Statement is an avenue for aspiring students to give us a sense of why they would be great candidates to join the highly talented cohort of Ahmedabad University's undergraduate students. The Personal Statement should go beyond a description of facts to providing authentic opinions, thoughts and perspectives.

  • Personal Interaction: The Personal Interaction is a mechanism for the University to get to know more about students who have applied for admission and for applicants to know more about the University. It allows us to learn about the applicants' achievements, passions, attitudes, motivation, readiness to learn, family circumstances and life-changing experiences. Interactions are conducted at the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid or through online meetings.

    Information about the Personal Interaction is sent by email and provided in the Student LogIn on the Admissions Portal. Students should report to the University / be available online as per the indicated time.

  • Standardised Tests: Ahmedabad University does not conduct an entrance examination.

    Standardised Tests are not a compulsory requirement to apply, except for the BTech Programme. However, Test Scores are one of the factors considered while evaluating an application. Students may include information about Standardised Test Scores such as, SAT, UGAT, JEE, NEET, IISER, ACT etc.

    Students who have appeared for the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) must provide the official transcript through the College Board to Ahmedabad University, using Designated Institution (DI) Code 6760.

We accept applications online on the Ahmedabad University Admissions Portal only. The application fee is Rs. 600/- and is not refundable.

  • Students may indicate a maximum of three Programme preferences in the same form with first preference as BBA (Hons)/ BCom (Hons)/ BCom Professional (Hons) or Integrated MBA. They may indicate other preferences from the same group or from Humanities and Sciences, in the same application form, subject to meeting eligibility criteria for the Programmes.
  • The applicable deadline for submission of the form and compliance with actions including payment of fees will be midnight of the stipulated date. The University reserves the right to change timelines with a notice period of 12 hours.
  • Academic scores are self-reported in the online application and will be verified at the time of the Interaction and/or during the completion of admissions formalities.

The application is automatically updated and processed based on their Class XII scores.
  • Special deadlines may apply in 2020 due to COVID 19.
  • Ahmedabad University is extending the Applications deadline keeping in consideration that many Boards are facing delays in announcing results.
