About the School: The School of Arts and Sciences has five divisions: Humanities and Languages, Social Sciences, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Biological and Life Sciences and Performing and Visual Arts. Biological and Life Sciences currently operates in the areas of nanotechnology, bioinformatics, cancer biology, ecology, microbiology, parasitology, plant biology, infectious disease and evolutionary biology.
Role Summary: Ensuring the smooth running of Biology Teaching Laboratories and Research Facilities; Conducting and coordinating laboratory courses as needed
Responsibilities
- Assisting Laboratory Associates and assisting in ordering general laboratory consumables and Keeping Inventory
- Conducting Practicals in various laboratories, assisting with experiments by logging details and setting up and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Prior to beginning the experiment, they may also need to clean and calibrate equipment, measure compounds and prepare solutions for use, perform or help with experiments
- Once complete, they may be responsible for recording results and disposing of hazardous waste.
- Conducting practical exams and submitting grades to the examination cell.
- Running instrument training/demo programmes for Integrated MS students, laboratory associates, and PhD students.
Key Skills: Basic Laboratory skills in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, and Instrumentations (Spectroscopy, Microscopy, Histology) will be preferred
Qualification: MSc (Life Sciences or related field of Life Sciences with minimum 55% marks from a recognised University)
