Students interested in the BTech Programme at Ahmedabad University can complete their application form now and include Class 12 results and scores for one of the following engineering competitive examinations held by varied credible National and State bodies.

Ahmedabad University will conduct all admission processes for the 200 All India seats. Admissions will be strictly merit-based, determined by students’ performance on recognised and credible national- and state-level examinations (weighted at 70 per cent) and Grade 12 scores, with the total percentage based on all subjects taken (weighted at 30 per cent). The acceptable, recognised, and credible examinations include:

  • JEE (Main) 2026
  • Any State Level Engineering entrance exam 2026 (GUJCET, MH-CET, KCET etc.)

Foreign Nationals (Citizens of countries other than India who completed their 12th-equivalent examination outside India) applying for the BTech Programme must meet the following criteria:

  • Must have completed their Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics.
  • Must have also completed Chemistry, if applying for Chemical and Environmental Engineering.
  • All certificates and degrees from foreign institutions must be recognised as equivalent by the Government of India or the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

A. Seats for 2026

  • 25 per cent of the seats are reserved for students who apply through the ACPC and have cleared the qualifying examinations (Grade 12 from eligible Boards) located in the state of Gujarat or students who have a domicile from the state of Gujarat.
  • Ahmedabad University is deeply committed to diversity and will keep 10 per cent seats (of the All India seats) for students from diverse backgrounds, namely Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes. Any seats that are not filled in this category can be re-offered to students in the All India Seats category.
  • Ahmedabad University is also equally committed to improving the gender balance in Engineering education. In spirit of increasing diversity, the University will also offer additional 20 per cent seats (of the total sanctioned seats) as supernumerary seats for female candidates. As per the rules of this allocation, female candidates will be eligible for both All India seats and Female-Only seats. The top merit ranked female will first be offered the Female-Only seats to ensure there is no reduction in the number of seats for non-female candidates. All seats will be filled only on the basis of merit, calculated in a similar way as the merit is calculated for the All India Seats merit as described above.
  • Ahmedabad University will also offer 10 per cent supernumerary seats (of the total sanctioned seats) for Foreign Nationals.

B. Eligibility

The General Eligibility requirement for admission to the Bachelor of Technology programme is the Class XII examination (or its equivalent) and the minimum marks in specified subjects in Grade 12 as per AICTE norms, published in their handbook from time to time.

1. Students appearing for Class 12 examinations conducted by various Boards (as specified below) are eligible to apply to Ahmedabad University.  

  • All boards approved by the Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE). View list
  • Secondary school leaving examinations recognised by the AIU, including the Cambridge IGCSE, the American High School Diploma, the International Baccalaureate (Diploma Programme only), and the 12-year General Secondary School Certificate Examination conducted in the Gulf countries. View list
  • Intermediate or two-year pre-university examination conducted by a recognised Board/ University.
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination

2. Each student must have cleared the 10+2 examination with the following minimum marks as per the table below:

*The eligibility criteria do not entitle a candidate for admission. They only indicate the minimum requirement to be considered for admission to the Bachelor of Technology programme at Ahmedabad University.

C. Selection Criteria

1. Selection Criteria for Open Seats (75 per cent)

The selection process for 75 per cent of the All India seats for the BTech programme at Ahmedabad University will be merit-based, determined by student performance on recognised and credible examinations held at national and state level (70 per cent weightage), along with and Grade 12 scores, with the total percentage based on all subjects appeared for (weighted at 30 per cent).

The admissions will be based on the following criteria:

  • Percentile score on competitive examinations held by credible National and State bodies: The percentile score on specific examinations will be considered towards the calculation of a holistic score. Tests whose percentile scores will be acceptable are:
    • JEE (Main) of the current year
    • Any State (in India) Engineering Entrance test (GUJCET in Gujarat, MH-CET in Maharashtra, KCET in Karnataka etc.) of the current year
  • Overall percentage of marks in Grade 12 (in all subjects that the candidate has appeared for) from any board (recognised by COBSE or AIU)
  • All Supernumerary seats for Foreign Nationals (in the table above) will be strictly based on merit only. The selection for admission will be based on Class 12 or equivalent qualifying examination that the student has appeared for in any country other than India (The Board must be as specified by the Association of Indian Universities). We will evaluate the merit based on all marks (in all subjects the student has appeared for, i.e., overall percentage marks). No entrance exam or Engineering Entrance Exam is required for these students. Only citizens of any country other than India, who have appeared for their 12th equivalent examination outside India, will be considered Foreign Nationals.

All admissions to Ahmedabad University will be based on merit on a ‘No Capitation’ and ‘No Profit’ basis. Scholarships are available for those with financial need.


Admission for BTech All India Seats (75%)

The process for counselling, seat selection, fee payment, waitlisting, and withdrawal of admission will be emailed to all eligible students at their registered email ID.
