Thrisha Mylswamy (Class of 2023) Joins JSS Medical College to Pursue Masters in Clinical Embryology
For Ahmedabad Alumna Thrisha Mylswamy, working in the field of medicine was a long-standing dream. The 2023 BS (Hons) graduate with a Major in Life Sciences has joined JSS Medical College, Mysuru, to pursue her Masters in Clinical Embryology. This is a two-year programme, where Thrisha will get to explore clinical embryology including andrology, cryopreservation, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), and in vitro fertilisation (IVF). Discovering embryology as a subject and her keen interest in it, was a turning point for Thrisha. “When I found out about embryology, I dived into research to understand it better. Talking to Ahmedabad alumni who were in the field gave me insights that shaped my decision,” she says.
A philanthropist at heart, she also wants to contribute to society. Studying Clinical Embryology, she believes, will offer her this opportunity. “Andrology, cryopreservation, ICSI, and IVF are all methods necessary for aiding fruitful pregnancies and guaranteeing the best possible health for embryos,” she adds.
Thrisha shares that the learning pedagogy at Ahmedabad University has left a remarkable impact on her learning and personal growth. She believes that the University’s focus on holistic education, critical thinking, and diverse pedagogic approaches has moulded and prepared her for life, not just a career in medicine. She states how Ahmedabad University inspired her to think beyond classroom learning. “The emphasis on real-world applications, case studies, and interactive discussions has empowered me to connect theory with practical scenarios. This approach has nurtured my application and problem-solving skills.”
Apart from academics, Thrisha was deeply involved with extracurricular activities at Ahmedabad and attended seminars and workshops, and all these have helped her enhance her communication and interpersonal skills. She also has a deep passion for learning new languages and has learnt Mandarin, German, and Japanese while at the University.
After she completes her master's, Thrisha will be well-equipped to handle reproductive cells with care, carry out thorough procedures, and make a useful contribution to the field of assisted reproductive technologies (ART). As a clinical embryologist, she looks forward to working with reproductive endocrinologists, fertility specialists, and other medical professionals to provide diagnostic and treatment options for ART in the future.
