Thol Bird Sanctuary: Nature Walk
The Environment Club, in collaboration with the Photography Club at the University, hosted an event centred around a bird watching exercise at Thol Lake Bird Sanctuary on the outskirts of the city of Ahmedabad, encouraging students to get acquainted with nature and explore the local flora and fauna at the sanctuary.
During the event, which is held annually, the participants have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the sanctuary, while also honing their bird watching and photography skills. Guided by expert ornithologists, the attendees learn to identify diverse bird species at the sanctuary, and their behaviour and habitat preferences.
The event included a photography competition, organised by the Photography Club, inviting the participants to use their creativity and technical expertise to capture stunning images of the park's avian inhabitants.
Beyond the thrill of bird watching and photography, the event aims to foster a deeper appreciation of the beauty of nature among students of the University, simultaneously motivating them to find ways of protecting the environment.
