The Other One Percent: The Selection and Diversity of Indians in America
As part of its Research Seminar Series, Ahmedabad University organized a talk "The Other One Percent: The Selection and Diversity of Indians in America” by Professor Sanjoy Chakravorty of Temple University. The theme of the discussion centred on the composition of the Indians in the US and how the Indian community is no longer a small, easily defined community. The title of the talk was the same as the title of the collaborative book by Professor Sanjoy Chakravorty, Professor Devesh Kapur and Professor Nirvikar Singh.
Sanjoy Chakravorty is Professor of Geography and Urban Studies at Temple University. He has written on urbanization, industrialization, income distribution, and land and is author or co-author of over 50 articles and six books. The most recent is The Price of Land: Acquisition, Conflict, Consequence (2013); The Other One Percent: Indians in America (2016), and his first novel, The Promoter (2015). Now he is working on the manuscript of The Truth About Us: India Invented and Unknown.
