The session, ‘The Art of Grant Writing’, will focus on the challenging and stimulating process of writing a proposal for funding. It will cover the general rules of thumb as well as the specific steps from the beginning to the end of the process of grant writing. The session will discuss the key elements of a standard grant proposal and offer inputs in outlining aspects such as project outcomes and deliverables, personnel, budget and timeline of activities. Overall, the session will equip participants with the know-how to develop a strong grant proposal.

Shagufa Kapadia
Shagufa Kapadia, PhD, is Emeritus Professor, Department of Human Development and Family Studies at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India.
Her scholarly interests encompass cultural underpinnings of human development with a focus on the life stages of adolescence and emerging adulthood. She has conducted research on self, identity, morality, parenting and socialization, and gender and women’s issues.
Professor Kapadia has significant publications to her credit, the most recent being a co-edited book titled, ‘Going Global: How Psychologists Can Meet a World of Need (APA, 2022). She is on the review and editorial boards of national and international journals, including Psychological Studies, Culture and Psychology, and Urdhava Mula (an interdisciplinary journal focusing on women and related issues).
In the course of her tenure, Professor Kapadia received several research grants from reputed national and international agencies such as the National Commission for Women (NCW), the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), the Ministry of Women and Child Development - GOI, Society for the Study of Emerging Adulthood (SSEA), Ford Foundation, UNICEF, CIRAD-France, and National Science Foundation-USA. Professor Kapadia has extensive experience conducting workshops on academic writing, grant writing, gender sensitization and qualitative research.
Professor Kapadia has received the Fulbright Senior Research Fellowship (2003-04) and the Shastri Indo-Canadian Faculty Research Awards (2006 and 2010). She is a Fellow of the National Academy of Psychology (NAOP)-India (2021-22). Presently, Professor Kapadia serves as the South Asia Regional Representative of the International Association of Cross-Cultural Psychology (IACCP) and India Coordinator of the International Society for the Study of Behavioral Development (ISSBD).
