Qadam-e-Virasat was a curated morning heritage walk organised by the Heritage Club, designed to offer participants an immersive experience of Ahmedabad’s historic old city. Conducted on 11 January 2026 from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM, the walk followed the iconic Mandir-to-Masjid route, beginning at the Swaminarayan Mandir, Kalupur, and concluding at the Jama Masjid. Traversing temples, pols, havelis, markets, and religious landmarks, the walk highlighted the layered architectural, cultural, and social histories that define the city of Ahmedabad. The early-morning timing allowed participants to witness the city as a living urban environment; rituals unfolding, markets opening, and neighbourhoods coming to life, encouraging reflective and observation-based engagement rather than passive consumption of heritage.
The initiative aimed to promote awareness of Ahmedabad’s built heritage, foster interdisciplinary learning across history, architecture, and urban studies, and encourage experiential learning beyond the classroom.
