How do brains encode sensory information, learn structure, and generate intelligent behaviour and how can these principles guide next-generation AI and neurotechnology?
A one-day interdisciplinary symposium aims to showcase cutting-edge advancements in neuroscience, auditory cognition, and AI-driven neural technologies. It will bring together leading researchers to discuss how neural principles inspire artificial intelligence and how machine learning enables deeper understanding of brain processing in speech, music, vision, and motor control. The symposium will provide a unique platform for Psychology, Biological and Life Sciences, and Engineering students and faculty at Ahmedabad University to engage with internationally recognised experts, facilitating research collaborations, student internships, and future grant initiatives.
Across talks spanning auditory neuroscience, computational cognitive science, and NeuroAI, we trace a pathway from sensory codes (neural representations of sound and context) to learning and prediction (statistical learning, adaptation, and inference) and onward to intelligent behaviour (attention, decision policies, and closed-loop control). A key emphasis is on building models that are not only accurate, but also interpretable, biologically plausible, and useful for human-centred applications, including brain–computer interfaces, neuroimaging tools, and early disease detection.
