Mother Language Day 2026
As part of the Reading Circle - February 2026, the Ahmedabad University Library, the Literary Club and Heritage Club warmly invite you to a special celebration of linguistic diversity on the occasion of International Mother Language Day 2026. We are delighted to present a reflective and celebratory gathering where participants are encouraged to express themselves in their mother tongue.
Participants may choose to:
- Recite a poem
- Narrate a short story
- Explain a proverb or saying
- Speak about a great author or a significant literary work
- Share thoughts on the essence, history, milestones, or cultural richness of their mother language
The core objective of this programme is to celebrate linguistic diversity and to introduce the most beautiful, meaningful, and unique aspects of different mother languages spoken within our university community. In this spirit, the organisers will give preference to diversity in both language and mode of presentation, ensuring a rich and varied experience for the audience.
Each participant will be given a maximum of 3 minutes to present. As the programme duration is limited, the organisers may need to make selections based on the diversity of languages and presentations received. While we sincerely value every interest shown, it may not be possible to accommodate all participants. We request your understanding and support in taking this in a positive spirit, in the larger interest of celebrating diversity.
Participants are kindly requested to ensure that their content is respectful and avoids themes that may hurt the sentiments of any individual or group.
