Field Experiences in Heritage Management: Interactions with Indigenous Communities

The second session of ‘Field Experiences in Heritage Management: Insights from Masters Theses Research’ will focus on ‘Interactions with indigenous communities’. Our graduates Aashka Jadeja, Bharvi Chheda, and Yashi Ranjan will discuss their interaction with some indigenous communities of Gujarat and Jharkhand with whom they worked during their thesis research. They will be in conversation with Vijay Ramchandani, Senior Executive, Academic Support and Research Projects, Centre for Heritage Management, Ahmedabad University, who is currently a PhD scholar at the Central European University. Speakers and topics: Aashka Jadeja – Linking Traditional Textile Crafts to Contemporary Apparels Towards Achieving Sustainability Bharvi Chheda – Relevance of Intercommunal Relations in a Village Craft Economy Yashi Ranjan – Roles and Relevance of Customary Practices in Preserving Biodiversity: A Case of Ho Adivasis of Jharkhand In the previous session our graduates spoke about their experience of theses research carried out at the old city of Ahmedabad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
