Dr Rama is the Senior Professor and Dean Academic, at the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences, TIFR Bengaluru. She has previously worked at the Engineering Mechanics Unit of the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research from 1998 to 2012 and as a Professor at the TIFR Hyderabad Centre for Interdisciplinary Sciences from 2012 to 2016.
An expert in the domain of Computational and theoretical fluid dynamics, she has won several awards, including the 2007 Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award for her original contributions to the field and the Outstanding Scientist Award of 1996 given by India's National Aerospace Laboratories.
