Data Science is an emerging term, and experts interpret its definition and scope differently. Like many other terminologies, such as Big Data, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence, it often confuses students. Data science is more about data than science. The rate of data acquisition, coupled with the progress in computing, has finally caught up with the model developments of the past century. The impact is pervasive, interdisciplinary, and cross-cutting. In this talk, I will try to bring clarity, identify the potential of this paradigm for creating future jobs, and offer a path of learning to integrate data science across diverse disciplines.
