What does it mean to be Free?
Everyone wants to be free. Who isn't familiar with the story of a well-loved parrot in a golden cage, but still yearns for the unpredictability of the open sky and the freedom to fly unrestrained?
What does it mean to be free? Would the complete absence of rules, say at home or at school, make one feel free? Or would one feel free if they got to set the rules? Can being free mean the same thing for everyone? If not, what shapes one’s ideas of freedom?
This interdisciplinary workshop invites high school students to reflect on their ideas of freedom and what it means to be free. Through group discussion, visual activities, and interactive lectures, the workshop will take participants through a philosophical, historical, and sociological journey into the concept of freedom.
