The Gender and Caste of Risk in a Time of Crisis

Perceptions of Risk in the Himalayas
Radhika Govindrajan | Speaker at Ahmedabad University

Speaker

This talk will explore how rural women in the Kumaon Himalaya theorize what counts as “risk” and who is considered at risk in the context of multiple intersecting crises – climate, agrarian, generational. Their discussions of risk illuminate how caste and gender intersect with risk in ways that complicate the newness and universality of crisis.
