India and Indonesia share a deep history and strong cultural and social affinities that continue to find new expressions through academic and intellectual exchange. During their recent visit to Ahmedabad University, a delegation from the Embassy of Indonesia, led by the Consul General of Indonesia in Mumbai, Mr Eddy Wardoyo, recognised the University’s innovative educational model as a framework essential to shaping the foundations of future global education.
Vice Chancellor Professor Pankaj Chandra explained that Ahmedabad University’s identity is defined by academic programmes that bring together a flexible yet rigorous curriculum, distinguished faculty, and immersive learning experiences. The University follows a distinctive pedagogical approach rooted in interdisciplinary learning, research-driven thinking, and experiential education, which together prepare students to engage thoughtfully with the complex challenges of contemporary society.
The delegates expressed appreciation for the University’s academic offerings, including the award-winning Foundation Programme, which builds the foundations of citizenship and sustainable living while encouraging students to engage with issues of society. The Programme represents a distinctive pedagogical experiment in transformative, transdisciplinary, and contextual learning by integrating six domains of knowledge: Constitution and Civilisation, Behaviour, Biology and Life, Materials, Data, and Communication.
