Professor Bimal Roy is the Chair Professor at R.C.Bose Centre for Cryptology and Security. He holds a position as the Principal Advisor of TCG CREST. He earned his B.Stat. and M.Stat. degrees from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, and later completed his PhD at the University of Waterloo, Canada. Prof.Roy has been a faculty member at the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata for about 40 years and was superannuated in March, 2024. Along with being the former Director of Indian Statistical Institute, he was the chairman of National Statistical Commission, India. He is also the founder and the general secretary of Cryptology Research Society of India, since its inception in 2001. He has played a pioneering role in the development of cryptology research in India and in the promotion of the science of modern cryptology in Indian academia and government agencies. He has also been a mentor to several postgraduate students in several institutes. Professor Roy has been honoured with several awards like the IBM Faculty Award, NASI - Reliance Platinum Jubilee Award, INSA Teacher Award. In addition to these, in 2015 Professor Roy was awarded Padma Shri by Govt. of India.
Professor Abhinandan Sinha has a Bachelor’s in Science with Honors in Statistics from Calcutta University, and a Masters in Statistics from Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata (lSI). After briefly working as a researcher at Le Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) India, on Multidimensional Poverty Indices, he went on to earn a PhD in Quantitative Economics from his alma mater, the Indian Statistical Institute, to pursue his interest in social science. His research interest lies in the political economy of development, with mathematical modelling of game theoretical applications.
