Youba Sokona, former Vice Chair of IPCC, shared his insights on climate change and combative measures that should be taken, particularly concerning the Global South, during his visit to Ahmedabad University. Professor Sokona discussed the climate and developmental challenges faced by the Global South and the desperate need for scholars and academics from the Global South to convene and create solutions and systems that suit their ecosystem. He also stressed India’s potential to lead the climate change agenda and emphasised India’s capacity and capability to lead the Global South. He concluded by punctuating the need for countries to work together and pool their resources to mitigate the challenges arising due to climate change, creating a better place.
