Nidhi D is a CSIR-SRF-NET Fellow, pursuing her doctorate studies at the Biological and Life Sciences division of the School of Arts and Sciences in the field of cancer biology. Cancer has always intrigued Nidhi in its complexity as all the systems in the cells that are otherwise so well controlled go haywire and cause chaos. She is looking at ways to inhibit the metastasis (the process by which cancer spreads throughout the body) of cancer cells by controlling the epigenetic modifications that are responsible for the malignancy. For this, she uses phytochemicals and small molecule inhibitors to attain better specificity and effectiveness and hence lesser side effects.
