The State and Trajectory of India's Relations with China

Dr Jabin T Jacob, Senior Visiting Fellow, Stepwell Centre for Asian Futures, conducted a strategy-and-practice briefing session at Ahmedabad University on the state and trajectory of India's relations with China and what India can do—and needs to do—to function and live in a neighbourhood in which China has an increasingly emphatic presence on land and sea.

This by-invitation event followed Chatham House rules to ensure maximum value-addition for a deep dive into this contentious and stressed geopolitical and geo-economic matrix.

Dr Jacob addressed a wide range of matters, including:

• India’s cognitive and attitude issues when dealing with China
• India-China border matters
• China’s ‘deep state’ and leadership dynamics
• China’s play in South Asia, Asia, and the India Ocean Region

The Briefing on ‘The State and Trajectory of India's Relations with China’ was presented by the Stepwell Centre for Asian Futures.

Dr Jacob has also written a landmark position paper for Stepwell Centre for Asian Futures on how India should deal with China.
