Founding Chairman of the Board of Management and former Board Member, Prafull Anubhai, releases his book at Ahmedabad University
In his latest book, Institutions, Values and Life Lessons, Prafull Anubhai offers a deeply personal account of building institutions across six transformative decades. Drawing on experiences with organisations such as IIMA, CEPT, NID and Ahmedabad University, he reflects on the values, dilemmas and decisions that shape institutions built to endure. His narrative, grounded in lived experience rather than theory, provides a compelling reflection on leadership, legacy and learning, guided not by prescriptive models but by quiet observation and thoughtful engagement.
The book, structured in four parts, presents a rich tapestry of roles and responsibilities that Anubhai undertook across varied domains. His perspective is that of a “serendipitous witness,” someone who engaged deeply in the process of institution building without seeking command or acclaim. Along the way, he acknowledges mentors and collaborators whose vision and values left a lasting imprint on his journey. The strength of the book lies in its ability to intertwine personal memory with institutional history, offering readers not only insights but also enduring questions about resilience, purpose and leadership.
As Kiran Karnik notes in the Foreword, this is ultimately a story of quiet leadership and hope, centred on individuals and institutions that chose character over charisma and stewardship over saviourhood. The book invites readers to look beyond textbook frameworks and reflect on the moral architecture that underpins strong organisations. With humility, clarity and grace, Prafull Anubhai offers not just a reflection on the past but a legacy of ideas for the future.
