Devanshee Kansara Selected to Highly Competitive Women Engineers Programme

Hyderabad-based first year student at the School of Engineering and Applied Science Devanshee Kansara always wanted to do something more along with her engineering programme in computer science. “I believe there is more to computer science than programming, and I would like to merge design with it and possibly work in the space of UX in the future,” she says. The opportunity to pursue a Minor in Design alongside her BTech in Engineering with a Major in Computer Science and Engineering drew her to Ahmedabad University last year. Now, at the end of her first year at the University, Devanshee has been selected to participate in the highly competitive, scholarship and technical mentorship programme, Women Engineers (WE), offered by TalentSprint and supported by Google. 

She is among the select women engineers in this rigorous and immersive two-year programme from a pool of 23,000 applicants pan India undergoing four rounds of selection. Primarily online with a physical Bootcamp of three weeks, the programme that is offered to only 200 women engineers annually is designed to build representative and more inclusive talent pools. Besides Google, top tech companies like Microsoft, Crackle, Amazon, Cisco, and Uber have had a history of hiring students from WE.

Devanshee says, “I am looking forward to the Bootcamp in June and the Google mentorship later. Being part of an elite peer group who will be trained for industry-ready skills will be an unparalleled experience. I see this as an opportunity to engage with like-minded developers and industry experts and build my technical and interpersonal skills, besides forming connections. It will give me a larger platform to develop my passion for design and engineering.”
