Ahmedabad University Cricket Team Beats Hosts Karnavati University Staff to Lift VIAJE Cup 2022

The Ahmedabad University cricket team which participated in Karnavati University’s VIAJE Championship 2022 is in a jubilant mood. Captained by keeper/batsman Deep Radhani of the Amrut Mody School of Management, the team won the VIAJE Cup 2022 off the last ball by three wickets, beating hosts Karnavati University Staff. In exemplary batting form, Amrut Mody School of Management’s Akshat Shah made clean work of the last over that required the Ahmedabad boys to score 14 runs, and was adjudged Man of the Series. The winning stroke came off the bat of Shaival Modi, School of Arts and Sciences, who hit the last ball of the match for a single.

The fiercely competitive 12-overs-a-match series had 18 of the best university/college teams from across Ahmedabad participating. First-time skipper Deep gave credit to the bowling department of Ahmedabad University for the win. “We didn’t get a great deal of practice but each of us knew our job well. I think our bowling unit was the best among all,” he said, adding that the most challenging match was the maiden one against LJ University, Ahmedabad. “They had a great team with state and district level players. It was our toughest match.”
