Professor Bordoloi is a dancer, filmmaker, educator, and curator. Her emergent journey in the arts has been interdisciplinary, and she situates herself under the broad umbrella of Body Wisdom, where direction, choreography, performance, healing, and writing intersect in a multi-dimensional way. She is the founder of the Brahmaputra Cultural Foundation (BCF), a 12-year-old organisation and space for leadership and the arts. She has been conferred many awards, notably the Sangeet Natak Akademi Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for Experimental Dance, and the Swarna Kamal at the 71st National Film Awards for Best Debut Non-Feature Film of a Director, Mau: The Spirit Dreams of Cheraw.
Katha Yatra
A research of the riverine culture/community in Assam. The artistic manifestations within Katha Yatra have resulted in a contemporary theatre/dance performance piece called Majuli (supported by IFA and Ministry of Culture), a short cinematic representation called Nature of Nescience, an artistic residency called Katha Yatra II – Boat on Wheels, a video documentation work called Lore, and learning centres in a few districts of Assam. Besides that, a project on musical instruments is in progress, in a digital archive format and in physical space. Katha Yatra continues to emerge with new mediums and artistic experiments.
Bamboo Bodies
Bamboo Bodies is an interdisciplinary research project to immerse in the sensorial, elemental, and imaginative world of Bamboo through touch, sound, movement, and film. The research has a structure of Bamboo Sound, Moving Bamboo, Bamboo lens (dance/movement, sound, film), and Bamboo Pedagogies.
Mau
The Spirit Dreams of Cheraw is a film under Bamboo Bodies, which has screened at numerous festivals and received many awards, including the National Film Award, the Swarna Kamal, for Best Non-Feature Debut Director.
