An alumnus of IIM Bangalore and IIT Roorkee, Professor Mukerji has over four decades of collective experience in industry and academics. With extensive expertise in project management, procurement, contract management, supply chain management, operations, and other areas, he has held senior leadership roles across the infrastructure sector. His career includes tenures at companies such as Tata Motors, NTPC, Nippon Denro Ispat Ltd, Texmaco Ltd, BrahMos Aerospace, and L&T, as well as Jayprakash Associates and the Kolkata Port Trust.

In academia, Professor Mukeji has been a full-time faculty member at the Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME), Bangalore; the L&T Institute of Project Management, Vadodara; and Globsyn Business School, Kolkata. He specialises in teaching operations, project management, and supply chain management.

Professor Mukerji's expertise also lies in project planning and monitoring, as well as the use of software packages. He was a project manager for the development of the highly acclaimed BrahMos Missile project.
