Dr. Divita Singh is an Assistant Professor at the School of Arts and Sciences, Ahmedabad University. She earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Psychology from Banaras Hindu University and completed her PhD in the Department of Cognitive and Brain Sciences at IIT Gandhinagar. Her doctoral research focused on understanding the attentional control mechanisms underlying temporal selection, with a particular emphasis on the interaction between the attentional blink and emotion-induced blindness. Following her PhD, she worked as a DST-CSRI Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Cognitive Science at IIT Kanpur. During her postdoctoral research, she investigated the self-prioritization effect (SPE) and examined the attentional control mechanisms underlying self-prioritization. She uses behavioural experimental methods to investigate the mechanisms underlying human cognition. Her research interests include visual attention, temporal attention, emotion, and self-bias.
My research lies at the intersection of cognition and emotion, with a particular focus on how emotional states influence cognitive processes, including attention, perception, and self-referential processing.
