This exclusive workshop on heritage conservation offers a unique opportunity to gain in-depth insights into India’s cultural legacy from the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), a premier organisation established in 1984. The workshop aims to provide practical understanding of heritage awareness, key conservation challenges, and capacity-building initiatives through training and learning. Additionally, the workshop will explore the intersections of history, culture, art, social sciences, and biodiversity, while engaging directly with experts in the field.
Purnima Datt is the Principal Director of the Heritage Education and Communication Service (HECS) Division at INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage). Under her leadership, HECS has grown into a dynamic and dedicated team of young professionals committed to promoting heritage awareness among students through INTACH’s network of over 200 chapters across India. In 2008, she introduced Filmit India, a project that uses short films as a creative medium for heritage documentation. Ms. Datt launched the Teacher Training Programme in 2001, and since then has regularly conducted sessions in 15 to 20 cities annually, reaching over 140 cities to date. Alongside her team, she develops educational resources for schools, including handbooks for heritage clubs, teacher resource books, children’s books, and the Young INTACH newsletter.
