Over the last few centuries, our understanding of the composition and history of the Universe has increased dramatically. This has been aided by the development of various earth and space-based instruments to look at the night sky, as well as by theoretical developments, most notably Einstein's proposition of the Theory of General Relativity. While we now have a fairly elaborate understanding of our past, there still remain many interesting questions about issues such as non-visible dark matter and dark energy, and about the future of our Universe. All these issues shall be explored in this lecture. We shall also briefly discuss the path to becoming a physicist.
