Ahmedabad University invites applications for admission to the (full-time) PhD programme under the Visvesvaraya PhD fellowship scheme for electronics and IT, in specific areas of Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) and Information Technology (IT) Hardware and IT enabled Systems.

Highlights

• Fellowship: Monthly stipend of INR 38,750/- (first and second year) and INR 43,750/- (third and fourth year).
  • Support will be provided upto five years or the PhD duration, whichever is less.
• Research Contingency Grant of INR 1,20,000 / year for support during PhD duration of the candidate.
• One-time international conference support of INR 1.5 Lakhs for full-time PhD
• One-time support for selected candidates for visits to laboratories abroad
• Reimbursement of rent (as per GoI norms)

Eligibility Criteria

• For admission to the PhD programme, the candidate must satisfy one of the following criteria:
• Candidate with an MTech/ME degree in a relevant branch/area (such as Electronics/Electronics and Communication/VLSI Design and Technology/Information Technology, Information and Communication Technology/Computer Science/Computer Science and Engineering), with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60 per cent of marks.
• Candidate with a BTech/BE degree in a relevant branch/area (such as Electronics/Electronics and Communication/VLSI Design and Technology/Information Technology, Information and Communication Technology/Computer Science/Computer Science and Engineering) with a minimum CPI of 7.5 or 70 per cent of marks.
• Candidate with an MS or equivalent degree in relevant areas (such as Electronics/Physics/AI/Data Science/IT/Computer Science), with a minimum CPI of 7.5 or 70 per cent of marks.
• Minimum 60 per cent marks or 6.5 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) required in all examinations from class 10 onwards.

Selection Procedure

• The candidates will be shortlisted based on the eligibility criteria mentioned above. Incomplete applications will be rejected. Admissions-related decisions will be made at the discretion of the committee.
• Candidates will be shortlisted for a written exam and interview based on the information submitted through the application portal.
• Shortlisted candidates who have successfully cleared the UGC-NET (JRF) or GATE with 90 percentile or above will directly appear for the interview. The University will invite a limited number of candidates for a written test and interview based on their academic records, statement of purpose, and academic achievements.
• The final selection will be based on academic credentials, written test, and interview.

Selection Matrix: Candidates will be shortlisted based on the merit of the application and their performance in written tests and interviews. The School reserves the right to alter the eligibility requirements, selection criteria, and course specifications as and when required. Upon successfully clearing the rounds, the University will send admission offers to the selected candidates.
