Ahmedabad University (www.ahduni.edu.in) is a private, non-profit university. It fosters continuous progress of self and society and offers students a liberal education with a focus on research and interdisciplinary, project-based learning. While Ahmedabad University is a young institution (established in 2009) in the heart of one of India's most vibrant cities, it has already taken significant steps to create a diverse, intellectually stimulating and collaborative culture for students and faculty. The University offers programmes leading to degrees from bachelors to doctoral. The University is attracting ambitious scholars from around the world and is developing links with some of the finest academic institutions and companies. It is an opportunity to re-imagine a university in the global academy and within subcontinental traditions of knowledge.

The School of Public Health led by Professor Kaumudi Joshipura, was inaugurated recently as the fourth school of the University; the first three being in Arts and Sciences, Engineering, and Management. The School aims to improve health and the environment locally as well as nationally and globally, to train leaders who can develop wholistic interdisciplinary solutions to problems pertinent to the 21st century, and to educate and inspire individuals, communities and organisations. The long term goals are to expand to a comprehensive and globally impactful School of Public Health. The School will offer an unprecedented opportunity for strong interdisciplinary enquiry with a low barrier to collaborative teaching/inquiry/research, directed by a desire to address complex, at-scale societal challenges.
