The Special Education Centre (SEC) at Ahmedabad University is dedicated to supporting students with diverse learning needs and neurodivergence, ensuring equitable access to academic opportunities and campus life.
The Centre supports students with learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia; neurodevelopmental conditions including autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disabilities; as well as students with physical, sensory, mobility-related challenges, and those requiring support with emotional regulation and social skills. Support is provided on a case-by-case basis, recognising that each student’s needs are unique.
Aligned with the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines, the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the SEC works towards creating an inclusive and supportive academic environment. Through academic accommodation, peer and volunteer support, counselling services, and faculty collaboration, the Centre aims to enhance students’ academic engagement, wellbeing, and overall University experience.
Our Vision
The Centre aims to build an inclusive academic ecosystem at Ahmedabad University where learning differences and neurodiversity are recognised, respected, and supported within the University’s academic culture. The SEC envisions a campus where all students can access learning opportunities, participate fully in academic and campus life, and develop the confidence, skills, and independence required to succeed within and beyond the University.
