My work focuses on the intersection of literature, community formation, and religion in South Asian Islam, examining it from a historical perspective. My current research project seeks to explore the role of the Urdu Marsiya tradition in shaping Shi'a subjectivity in North India during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
