Accounting and Finance:

The Accounting and Finance major is designed to develop a strong foundation in the two of the significant control and investment aspects of any business that ensures long term strategic growth. The major builds complementary perspectives and skills to make organizational decisions that ensure its financial health. It will enable the students to develop a comprehensive knowledge base by exploring various aspects of a business entity including financial accounting, fundamentals and advancements in cost and management accounting, application of relevant tax laws, contemporary developments in financial reporting and auditing. This major will also help develop a broad understanding of different aspects of finance including financial management, investment analysis, corporate finance, structure and operation of financial markets and services. Students will be prepared, both for higher studies and employment in the areas of Accounting, Corporate Finance, Taxation and Financial Services.

Finance:

The Finance major will equip you with a sound foundation in the theories of finance and economics and build the essential quantitative skills for complex financial decision-making. The major also provides a deep background of the institutional structure of the financial industry and its key drivers. You will learn to think methodically, to critically assess key issues in finance from a range of perspectives, and to apply financial tools in decision making. With a right blend of elective courses, this major will provide you with a comprehensive grounding for careers in investment banking, equities, treasury, financial consulting, as well as higher studies and research.

Finance and Economics: 

Economics and Finance major has an emphasis on strong curriculum and will equip students with a comprehensive foundation of economic reasoning and analytical tools of finance. It will also enable students to apply these tools to a range of real world problems. Students will also learn to examine and formulate complex arguments along with the ability to communicate them well. Engagement will be driven through interactive sessions, events at the School and research projects. Students will be able to cross register for courses and build on interdisciplinarity by combining Finance and Economics with other disciplines offered by School of Arts and Sciences at Ahmedabad University.

Business Analytics:

The Business Analytics major is designed to build competency in data based decision making in solving complex business problems. The major equips the student in the use of technology for making business decisions that includes (i) Describing, collecting and managing datasets (ii) Visualization and Analysis of data (iii) Making optimal and robust decisions. Students will learn to use a range of statistical and quantitative methods, computational tools for statistical analysis, and programming tools. The era of big data both qualitative and quantitative has created new and significant opportunities for graduates of this major in business operations in various sectors, technology firms, and consultancy organizations. 

Human Resource and Organisations:  

The Human Resource and Organisations Major aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the structure and dynamics of organizations and related issues in managing human resources at an individual, group and organizational level. Required courses in organization behaviour, human resource management, and team management introduce students to critical concepts of management while also addressing practical issues of how to analyze and influence behaviour and actions of individuals and groups in a variety of organizational settings.  The major also provides students with a general understanding of the factors affecting employer-employee relations, and the changing dynamics because of the of technology. It also trains students in traditional areas of labour laws and talent management and in contemporary areas like HR analytics and the future of work. 

Marketing:  

The Marketing major is aimed at providing perspectives in understanding consumers and their relationship with markets, skills to analyze their data and make effective marketing decisions, and strategies to design competitive marketing programmes in organizations. The programme also helps develop an understanding of the global forces like technology and regulations which affect the organization’s strategies from a marketing perspective. The required courses draw principles from economics, behaviour, and strategy to build a rigorous foundation to understand consumer choices and markets. The major provides the essential areas of learning in marketing, i.e., consumer behaviour, retail management, services marketing, integrated marketing communications, marketing research, digital marketing, and sales and distribution management.

Operations Management:

The Operations Management major provides a deep understanding of design and management of manufacturing and service operations and how to enhance their productivity and innovativeness. The major builds the skills necessary to analyse operations and improve their effectiveness, quality, delivery, and flexibility. It trains students in areas of product development, process analysis, inventory management, supply chain planning, revenue management, lean operations and other areas of business management. The major provides an essential link to coordination of operations with other business functions of the firm including a sharp understanding of costs involved in operations. Graduates find employment in all sectors of industry and services as operations analysts, consultants, and executives in service operations. 

Operations Research and Statistics:

The Operations Research and Statistics major provides a foundation in the quantitative methods that are used for managerial decision making. The major equips students to build causal models, learns optimization methods, and understand the role of uncertainty in decision making.  Students develop the broad skills required for solving problems, working in teams and project management and deploy appropriate quantitative tools for solving real world problems. The major prepare a student to work in all functional areas and sectors like finance, marketing, human resources, operations, IT and any other area where modern tools of Statistics and Operations Research are applicable. 

Supply Chain Management:  

The Supply Chain major builds managerial perspectives and skills that are needed to coordinate and manage flows of information and goods across different functions within an organization and across organization. This contemporary major prepares a student to develop models, use technology, and make managerial decisions on how to make supply meet demand at least costs and highest speed. The major also trains students to integrate technology in making operational and strategic decisions on the one hand while providing a deep understanding of how global outsourcing works so that firms can become active part of global value chains. Students who major in Supply Chain may find employment with planning, production, and distribution functions of product manufacturing and sourcing companies in all sectors of industry, with consulting companies that provide such services to companies, as well as with global sourcing agencies who look to manage supply chains across geographies. Agencies that provide humanitarian services also look for people trained in such skills.

The BBA programme has regional as well as global dimensions. The university's education initiatives include providing students international exposure through visits and short term study programmes to prestigious business schools outside India. The BBA programme's business education intersperses management theory with practical insight from industry. Curricula are regularly updated, and teaching emphasises self-learning and skill development, to help fulfill the programme's goal to equip students for their next professional and academic decisions.
