Belly dance, or Raqs Sharqi, is an Egyptian folk dance prominent in Middle Eastern countries. The dance form involves controlled movement of the lower body, mainly the hips and the torso. Through this 2-day workshop, we intend to bring authentic belly dance to the audience, wherein participants will start from the basics. Moreover, the students will learn to dance to classical Egyptian music incorporating darbouka (a goblet drum) beats.
