Student-Professor Duo Makes History at COMSNETS 2025 with Best Paper Award Win
Ahmedabad University student Raj Dave, BTech Class of 2025, and Dhaval Patel, Associate Professor, School of Engineering and Applied Science, bagged the Best Research Paper Award - Main Track and the Best UG Presentation Award at the 17th International Conference on COMmunication Systems & NETworkS (COMSNETs 2025) held recently in Bengaluru, India. The paper "Efficient Human Activity Recognition using Deep Unfolding in 802.11bf Wi-Fi Sensing" ranked first out of 67 presented papers. The conference's General Chair (Director - Indian Institute of Information Technology, Surat, and Professor of Computer Science, Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar) congratulated Raj on defeating the top MNCs, including IBM, Qualcomm, Ericsson, IISc/IITs, and other leading Indian and US universities to win the Best Paper Award.
In addition to the award, Professor Patel presented four research papers with students pursuing thesis at Ahmedabad University's Machine Intelligence, Computing and xG Networks (MIcXN) research lab and Undergraduate Research Project scholars. Professor Patel also served as an expert panel member for the discussion on "Flying Networks: Where Do Drones and Satellites Lead Us?"
