A seminar on portfolio guidance, held at Ahmedabad University on November 12, 2024, offered students crucial insights on building a strong professional portfolio, assessing scholarship opportunities, and navigating the recruitment process at the prestigious University of the Arts London (UAL). The speaker at the session, Ms Lynda Doyle, from the London College of Communication at UAL, highlighted the career prospects in the creative industries for students of art, design, communications, and related fields at the University. Ms Doyle, an expert on creative industry trends and portfolio building, focused on UAL’s academic programmes at its six colleges, guiding the students towards achieving success in the spheres of art and design. The presentation was followed by a Q&A session with representatives of the UAL colleges.
UAL, which is ranked second globally for Art and Design pedagogy, as per the 2024 QS World University rankings, has been an alma mater for some of the most prominent personalities in the creative industries, including Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Anish Kapoor. The UAL colleges offer a wide array of courses on fashion, textiles, and creative computing, among others.
