Argument Autopsy is a team-based critical thinking event designed to sharpen participants’ analytical and debating skills. Working in teams of three, participants examine deliberately flawed or “dead” arguments to identify both structural weaknesses—such as issues in claims, evidence, or warrants—and explicit logical fallacies like ad hominem or hasty generalisation. To support learning beyond the event, teams are provided with a concise handout covering key concepts, definitions, and examples. Points are awarded based on the accuracy and completeness of each team’s analysis, encouraging precision, collaboration, and a deeper understanding of sound argumentation.
