Ashwin has 10 years’ experience in teaching and research in Cultural Studies and has also worked in Higher Education grant design and policy review, alongside being a literary and academic translator. He is also a bilingual writer working in Kannada and English. Ashwin has done his PhD in Cultural Studies from the Centre for the Study of Culture and Society, Bangalore, affiliated to Manipal University.

He has worked at the Higher Education Cell at Centre for the Study of Culture and Society, Bangalore, where he was heading the Regional Language Resources Initiative, involved in enhancing the use of Indian language resources in Higher Education as also the digital footprint of Indic languages. He was Assistant Professor in the Department of English in Tumkur University, Tumakuru, Karnataka. He edits the research journal, Pragmata, published by Tumkur University. He has been associated with Sir Ratan Tata Trust, Mumbai, where he was a consultant for their higher education portfolio.
