Class of 2022 graduate Yashraj Kakkad is set to join Google India, joining the tech conglomerate in Hyderabad this July. At Ahmedabad University, Yashraj studied Information and Communication Technology in the BTech Programme of the School of Engineering and Applied Science. Talking about working at the tech giant, among the most coveted workplaces worldwide, Yashraj says, “It’s undeniably exciting, and it was an interesting interview process that comprised four rounds designed to assess problem-solving skills and what Google calls ‘Googlyness and Leadership’. I was offered the role based on my aggregate performance in these rounds.”
Yashraj was known for his forward thinking and leadership skills during his undergraduate studies. Being the Secretary of the Programming Club and the Lead of the first Google Developer Student Club of the University allowed him opportunities to explore more than academics, helping him widen his perspective and develop industry skills. Using these skills, Yashraj created shared experiences for similar clubs from other universities he was invited to. After an exhaustive assessment of his work and academics, Ahmedabad University presented him with the Chairman’s Student Award for Outstanding Performance and Impact on Community for 2022.
Working with multinational companies has been part of Yashraj’s university experience. He has interned at Goldman Sachs twice during his undergraduate years, completing his BTech Project at the leading global financial institution while contributing to developing its next-generation risk management database team. Yashraj says, “I’d like to encourage my juniors to make the most out of the opportunities the University extends and work towards building a stronger coding culture at Ahmedabad.
