Aneri Dalwadi Joins University of Texas at Austin for Masters in Information Systems
Aneri Dalwadi, BTech in Computer Science and Engineering, Class of 2023, School of Engineering and Applied Science, has always been interested in using technology to create novel tools. Last year, along with her senior Dhruvil Dave, Class of 2022, she invented a new syntax named Unicode Aware Sanskrit Transliteration (UAST). This is an intuitive and modern typesetting system and, mathematically, the fastest tool allowing people to read and write Sanskrit using computers. Aneri says, “People studying Sanskrit should focus on learning the language rather than manage the difficulties of the logistics surrounding it.”
Aneri secured admission to the prestigious University of Texas at Austin for her Masters in Information Systems. Beyond computer science, the interdisciplinary approach of Ahmedabad University’s pedagogy allowed her to take classes in psychology, biology, Sanskrit, and more, which has helped her tremendously in getting accepted to the master’s programme. She says, “As someone with a deep interest in exploring different cultures, I was able to broaden my horizons beyond computer science by taking classes in psychology, biology, Sanskrit, and more. The University's commitment to interdisciplinary education gave me a holistic understanding of the world. I think it will serve me well in my future endeavours.”
From being a Kaggle Master ranked among the top 200 from millions of users worldwide to interning at various reputed industries like Genuin Inc and BetaMG, Aneri has been a highly driven student. She has also been a Tech Lead at the Stepwell Radio at the University, which now serves as a podcast and live-streaming service used all over the University. That experience was one of the transformative life experiences for Aneri. She says, “Being one of the primary tech leads, I used this as an opportunity to showcase my technical knowledge. We had to create software that would scale to thousands of users from the first day. It was thus a test of everything we had learnt so far.”
Talking about the support she received from Professors at the University, Aneri says, “Professors Shishir Saxena, Shefali Naik, and Mehul Raval provided me with the support and guidance I needed to succeed, even during difficult times. Their expertise, passion, and dedication to their students inspired me to push myself beyond my limits and achieve my goals. In addition, This culture of innovation has allowed me to explore my creativity and think outside the box, which I believe will be crucial in navigating the challenges ahead.”
