Ahmedabad University to Collaborate with Composites Excellence Center of Asia for Promoting Quality Manpower in Composites

Ahmedabad University to Collaborate with CECA for Promoting Quality Manpower in Composites

Emerging economies are focusing on manufacturing indigenous engineering products, leading to the increased use of advanced composites. This necessitates comprehensive skilling of engineers for designing, developing, testing, and manufacturing parts and assemblies involving advanced composite materials.

Recognising the importance of research and development in the field of composites and the need for imparting industrial training to engineering, technology, and science students, amongst others, Ahmedabad University’s School of Engineering and Applied Science has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Composites Excellence Center of Asia (CECA). CECA is engaged in supporting the development of composite clusters by optimising its strength in research on composites of tomorrow to enable aligning of industry requirements with academia. Through their collaboration, the University and CECA are seeking to establish an effective relationship in the larger interest of the sector. The partnership aims to create a reservoir of highly qualified manpower in composites, including design evolution, research and development, creation of tool designs, and promotion of appropriate manufacturing methodology.

By pooling their expertise and resources, the two parties will form a nucleus for promoting excellent quality manpower in the fields of engineering, technology, and sciences with special emphasis on developing the composites of tomorrow. The collaboration also aims to enhance the performance of the existing composites industries through faculty and student exchange opportunities, joint conferences, seminars and projects, practical training, and exploring the scope for continuing education schemes.

The School of Engineering and Applied Science at Ahmedabad University will offer a new Master of Technology programme specialising in Composites from 2024-2025. The MoU will bolster the programme’s objective of imparting comprehensive knowledge to graduates who can contribute to the composites industry.
