One-Day Onsite Workshop: Skill Building for Industry 4.0
With Indian industries getting transformed digitally, it is essential that engineering graduates and practising engineers become aware and develop competencies in the digital manufacturing sphere including Industry 4.0 (I4.0) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
Manufacturing industries are undergoing a profound transformation driven by rapid advances in digital technology. Worldwide, I4.0 is fuelling the emergence of smart factories across diverse industry verticals including automotive, health care, aerospace, and defence. I4.0 is an innovative and transformative concept that has the potential to revolutionise India's industrial landscape. It integrates cutting-edge technologies into the manufacturing process through adoption of connected and intelligent digital technologies creating a smart and interconnected ecosystem.
Sensors in conjunction with existing manufacturing equipment and systems generate data about equipment operation, process parameters, their variation with time from which potential for failure, and rejection can be estimated. Manufacturing systems cuts across sectors such as automotive, textile, pharma, transportation systems, medical devices, heavy engineering, etc. Further, these have to be re-looked in the context of sustainable development goals, environment impact and climate change.
Relevance
This workshop will delve into the immense possibilities that I4.0 holds for India's economic development by enabling factories to become smart factories that will enhance productivity, profitability, compliance, and customer satisfaction. Such smart factories result in factory jobs that are very different from conventional manufacturing.
With Smart factories re-imagining factory jobs, there is a growing need for engineering graduates who are savvy with such technologies to lead the digital transformation in the manufacturing sector and compete globally.
About the Workshop
This workshop is organised to build skill and create an awareness about I4.0. Highly experienced industry experts and faculty will lead participants to explore opportunities and understand basic principles, challenges, benefits. IIoT, digital transformation, maturity assessment models, and AI/ML cyber-physical systems related to I4.0.
The day-long workshop will cover the strategic needs and solutions for smart factories based on improved manufacturing systems planning, project planning, scoping evaluation, feasibility assessment, implementation, and risk identification. The learning will be backed by selected case studies that would further enhance the concept and structure of I4.0.
Who can benefit?
Given the wide variety of manufacturing sectors, I4.0 is multidisciplinary in nature. Topics covered in this workshop encompass several engineering disciplines which is reflected in the evolution and operation of digital factories. Current students and graduates of any branch of engineering (BTech/BE, MTech/ME) can benefit from this workshop. Additionally, students enrolled in BSc/MSc/BCA/MCA/MBA can also participate. Graduates employed in any manufacturing sector can also benefit from this workshop.
How will this awareness enhance your career?
With rapid transformation of manufacturing via digital technologies, fresh engineering graduates who have competency in I4.0 techniques are not only in demand today but will be so in the foreseeable future.
Some of the career pathways are:
- Smart Manufacturing Application Developers
- Smart Manufacturing Engineers
- Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Application Developers
- Industrial Engineers - Digital Manufacturing
