Conservation Concerns in Museum Collection Management - A Glimpse from Qatar
Qatar’s climate, characterised by harsh temperatures makes museum collection management and conservation a hugely challenging task. Navigating through several challenges of climate, speaker Aristoteles Georgios Sakellariou will talk about his experience through the different complications that arise in the conservation and management of museum objects in extreme climates. In this context, he will also talk about the role of Qatar museums authority and the conservation team of the museum of Islamic art in adopting unique conservation and management methods to face this particular type of climate.
Aristoteles is the head of conservation and scientific research in the museum of Islamic art - Qatar museums, based at the museum of Islamic art for the past 10 years. Previously he held the same position at the Islamic arts museum of Malaysia for 3 years. He is one of the editors for the first book on the care of collections in greek (2011).
