Impact of Education of the X&Y Chromosomes on Women’s Agency and Experience of Domestic Violence
Principal Investigator: Pallavi Vyas
Co-Investigator: Aditi Upadhyay
Funding Agency: J-PAL (MIT)
Project Duration: November 2021 – November 2022
Project Summary: Across India’s socio-economic fabric, for countless years, many women that do not give birth to a male child are subject to mental and physical abuse. The abuse varies from shaming, to abandonment and even death. We will test whether education entertainment (“edutainment”) can overcome age-old beliefs. By changing the attitudes of both men and women, our intervention endeavours to lower levels of domestic violence inflicted on women.
