Ahmedabad University Student's Global Learning Experience
Ahmedabad University advocates a holistic approach to education, empowering students to explore the world's multifaceted nature. This philosophy was realised for Aditi Jain ( BBA, Class of 2025), who participated in the prestigious Jain Youth Exchange Programme (JYEP) 2024. Selected among the top 14 from over 800 global applicants, Aditi embarked on a journey across major US cities, immersing herself in leadership, culture, education, business, and Jain values.
The programme gave Aditi access to successful Indian leaders, offering personal and professional insights crucial for thriving in the business world. Beyond exploring iconic landmarks in Washington D.C., Atlanta, Miami, Boston, New York, and San Francisco, she engaged with Ivy League professors, deepening her understanding of business practices and ethics.
In Washington D.C., participated in expert-led discussions on lobbying, Indo-US relations, governance, and AI ethics. She also enabled interfaith dialogue through visits to diverse religious institutions. Her visit to the Indian Embassy provided insights into civil service challenges and international relations.
Atlanta saw Aditi attending the Young Jains of America (YJA) Conference, where she connected with fellow Jain youth, participated in leadership workshops, and engaged in community service by creating blankets for underprivileged infants. Academic explorations at Emory University and Georgia Tech were complemented by discussions on attracting international students to India during an Indian Consulate meeting. A tour of the World of Coca-Cola provided valuable lessons in branding and corporate success.
Miami offered a meeting with entrepreneur Bharat Desai, focusing on leadership and business challenges. In Boston, Aditi attended entrepreneurial and Jainism-focused sessions at Harvard Business School, MIT, and Harvard Law School, alongside guided meditation and discussions on AI and Jain business leadership.
New York provided a deep dive into finance through meetings with Greenlight Capital, Fareportal, and Galaxy Diamonds experts. A visit to the United Nations offered insights into global governance while networking with political leaders on civic engagement. Finally, in San Francisco, Aditi explored tech giants like Meta, Google, and Apple, engaging with industry leaders.
As the youngest office bearer and representative of the Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO), Aditi attributes her success to the unwavering support from Ahmedabad University professors. "Their guidance was instrumental and a constant source of encouragement," she noted.
JYEP 2024 was a transformative experience, seamlessly blending education, business exposure, cultural immersion, and leadership training, complemented by Jain values. This journey broadened Aditi’s global perspective, expanded her professional network, and solidified her personal and professional growth.
